Promor's engineering scope included dynamic analysis, mooring analysis, structural analysis, detailed structural engineering, and offshore installation engineering. The entire system was designed to facilitate diver-less installation and recovery operations, enhancing safety, reducing offshore intervention requirements, and improving overall project efficiency.
The RTM column was secured using a 3 x 2 all-chain mooring arrangement anchored by drag-embedded high holding power (HHP) anchors. The riser system accommodated two 8-inch production risers, one 8-inch water injection riser, one 6-inch gas injection riser, and an umbilical, all terminating at the top of the RTM column and connected to quick-release interfaces between the column and FPSO.
A key feature of the design was the ballast system, which utilised iron ore contained within six removable compartments at the base of the RTM column. This innovative approach enabled efficient installation, future recovery, and potential redeployment of the system.
The system was specifically engineered to enable safe disconnection of the FPSO during cyclonic weather events, ensuring operational flexibility and asset protection in a challenging offshore environment.
